Free ChatGPT Just Got GPT-6, and Now It Draws Charts and Builds Calculators

Oct 14, 2026

The short version: On 7 October 2026, OpenAI moved ChatGPT to a new model, GPT-6, and added something called Intelligent UI. Answers can now come with charts, maps, buttons and small calculators you can tap. Free and Go users got it on 8 October. You do not pay anything extra.

What changed (simple version)

  • Answers can be pictures, not just paragraphs. Ask for a recipe and you may get a cooking timeline. Ask about a road trip and you may get a map.
  • ChatGPT can build you a small tool inside the chat. A bill splitter, a savings calculator, a quote calculator. You type the numbers, it works them out.
  • You can play with explanations. Change a number and watch the chart change. Good for learning and for showing a client “what if”.
  • Faster on questions that need the web. OpenAI says it starts answering about 44% sooner than the old version.
  • Too many visuals? You can turn them down.

Who gets what

  • Free and Go: GPT-6 Luna plus Intelligent UI, from 8 October.
  • Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise: GPT-6 Sol (the stronger version) from 7 October.
  • Rolled out globally. Kenya is included.

Why this matters for a Kenyan business

  • Free ChatGPT just got better while free Gemini got weaker (Google cut free users to its lightest model on 9 October). If you do not pay for any AI tool, ChatGPT is now the stronger free option for most tasks.
  • Quick tools without a developer. A tour operator can ask for a “safari price calculator: number of guests, nights, park fees” and get a working calculator in seconds. A shop can build a bulk-discount calculator. Use it, screenshot it, send it on WhatsApp.
  • Clearer client explanations. A chart of “what you save per month” sells better than a paragraph.

Be careful

  • A calculator that looks professional can still be wrong. Check the maths with one example you already know.
  • These tools live inside the chat. They are not a website or an app you can give to customers.
  • Do not paste client ID numbers, M-Pesa statements or passwords into any chatbot.

Do this today

  1. Open ChatGPT (free is fine) and type: “Build me a simple calculator for [your pricing]. Let me change the inputs.”
  2. Test it with a price you already know is right.
  3. Ask: “Show my last month’s sales as a chart” and paste in your own numbers (no customer names).
  4. If you were thinking of paying for ChatGPT Go or Plus, try the free version for a week first. It may be enough.
